Jonah Ayunga has been ruled out for the rest of the season through injury.
The 20-year-old striker, who moved to Eamonn Deacy Park on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion, underwent successful surgery after Friday’s Cup win against St Patrick’s Athletic.
Ayunga has returned to Brighton to begin his rehabilitation.
Shane Keegan told www.galwayunitedfc.ie that he was disappointed that Ayunga’s spell with the club has been cut short.
“While only with us for a short time, Jonah had a great impact for us. He was playing a big role in our games and he endeared himself to everyone at the club.
“Everybody at Galway United wishes him the best of luck with his rehabilitation with Brighton and who knows, we may see him in a Galway United jersey again in the future.”
