Bohemians | Match Preview

Galway United return to action at Eamonn Deacy Park on Friday night. Keith Long’s Bohemians provide the opposition on Corrbside. Kick-off is at 7.45pm.

United have gone head-to-head with the Gypsies on three occasions in 2016, winning once, while Bohemians won the FAI Cup tie, and the latest league encounter ended in a 1-1 draw at Dalymount Park in June.

Now both clubs are separated by only one point in the league standings and both will have ambitions of securing a top half finish with just eight league games remaining.

Like Bohemians, United suffered a defeat in their last home game. Last week, Shamrock Rovers departed Eamonn Deacy Park armed with the three points after Gary Shaw headed the winner for the Hoops in the first half injury time.

After defeating Bohemians at Eamonn Deacy Park in March, United boss Tommy Dunne is to take maximum points off the Dalymount Park outfit when they come to Galway on Friday.

DUNNE EXPECTS ANOTHER TIGHT ENCOUNTER WITH BOHEMIANS
“It’s an important game considering the league standings,” Dunne explained to www.galwayunitedfc.ie.

“It’s always a difficult game against Bohemians, that’s to be expected. It’s a big game for us.

“We’ve certainly been there or thereabouts in recent games, we just need to eradicate a few silly errors and we need to start scoring goals again. It’s putting us under pressure because we’re not taking our chances.

“We need to go again and continue to improve on our home form. There isn’t a huge amount of league games left, so we’ve got to try and pick up as many points as we can.

“We’re trying to better ourselves, if we can go on a run, it could give us an opportunity to get in the top six and I think that would be a good improvement on last season.

“We’ve been on the wrong side of results lately, it’s time for us to get back on the right side.”

José Garcia continues to be Galway United’s only absentee, otherwise Tommy Dunne has a full strength squad at his disposal.
