Galway United return to action this Monday night, when they face Drogheda United away from home, in the SSE Airtricity Men's Premier Division.
The two sides already faced each other on the opening day of the season, with Kevin Doherty’s charges winning that contest, 1-0.
Drogheda come into this game following a draw against Bohemian FC on Friday night.
The Louth side had an impressive 2025 Premier Division campaign, which almost saw Doherty’s charges claim European football.
The 2024 FAI Cup champions have held onto the majority of their squad from last season, with the likes of Conor Keeley, Ryan Brennan, Luke Dennison and Shane Farrell key men for Drogs.
With the likes of former Galway goalkeeper, Dennison in goals and Keeley in defence, Drogheda will be difficult to break down, and they will always look dangerous from Farrell’s set pieces.
Doherty made a number of new signings ahead of the 2026 season, with Brandon Kavanagh being an eye-catching addition. Kavanagh has impressed in recent seasons with Bray Wanderers, Derry City and St. Patrick’s Athletic.
Striker, Mark Doyle has also returned to Drogheda following a stint in America. Doyle previously lined out for Drogheda before joining St. Patrick's Athletic in 2022.

Galway come into this game following an entertaining win over Derry City, on Friday night.
Goals from David Hurley and Frantz Pierrot secured the win for the westerners.
John Caulfield's side have made a solid start to the season, where they have performed well in the majority of their fixtures to date.
The westerners made a number of new signings before the 2026 season, with Arthur Parker and Kris Twardek very impressive for the westerners so far in their debut season with Galway.
Galway United squad: Evan Watts, Hugo Pires Da Cunha, Killian Brouder, Junior Thiam, Axel Pieshold, David Hurley, Aaron Bolger, Jimmy Keohane, Conor McCormack, Ed McCarthy, Dara McGuinness, Stephen Walsh, Cillian Tollett, James Morahan, Wasiri Williams, Kris Twardek, Lee Devitt, Matty Wolfe, Gianfranco Facchineri, Al-Amin Kazeem, Francely Lomboto, Arthur Parker, Hugo Pires Da Cunha, Nicholas Fleuriau Chateau, Frantz Pierrot.

Speaking ahead of Monday’s game, Galway United manager, Caulfield said it will be a difficult task for his side.
"They are a very good side. David Hurley picked up a knock on his hamstring there at the end on Friday, we'll have to have a look at that. We will be rotating things a bit for Monday night. It will be another really tough battle, but it's nice to be heading up there with a win."
