Match Preview | St. Patrick's Athletic
Galway United will begin the second series of League games with a mid-week fixture against St. Patrick’s Athletic at Eamonn Deacy Park on Tuesday evening. Kick-off: 7.45pm.
The Tribesmen remain unbeaten at Eamonn Deacy Park and they will look to continue that run against the Saints.
When the sides last met on opening day, United were 3-1 winners at Richmond Park.
Currently only two points separates the sides as they look to stay in touch with the top four.
TOMMY DUNNE | “WE WILL BE LOOKING TO GET BACK TO WINNING WAYS.”
“We’re always looking to get three points at home,” Dunne explained.
“St. Pats probably haven’t had the results that they would’ve liked so far, but in saying, they’ve done quite well. They’ve beaten Rovers and Bohemians. They have shown that they can pick up big results. They’re a good technical team.
“St. Pats will be coming to Galway trying to get back on track but we will also be looking to get back to winning ways as well.
“The last game we had at home against Longford, it felt more like a defeat because we were 2-0 up and drew, but we weren’t beaten and that was the only real positive.
“We will need to improve a bit because we want to make this ground a place where clubs don’t relish visiting. We need to have a mindset of looking to win games.
“We’ve just got to improve on small bits in our game and once we get going, I think we’ll be fine.”
TEAM NEWS
Galway United have been dealt a blow with the news that influential captain Ryan Connolly could miss three or four weeks of action with a calf tear.
