Bohemian FC

Bohs come into this game following a narrow 1-0 victory over Waterford FC last Friday.

The north Dublin side are managed by Alan Reynolds and his assistant manager is former Galway United player and Renmore native, Stephen O'Donnell.

Bohs have made a number of new signings recently, including former United player, Patrick Hickey.

Hickey has impressed for the Dubliners so far, in a central defender role. The 2009 Premier Division champions look far more solid defensively this season, compared to the last few seasons.

They have a lot of threats in attack with Connor Parsons, Colm Whelan and Dawson Devoy looking impressive so far in 2026. Kilkenny native, Whelan bagged a hat-trick for the Dalymount men in their victory against Sligo Rovers away from home, while Devoy has been named as part of the Republic of Ireland provisional squad for their upcoming UEFA European Championships play-off semi-final against Czechia.

Reynold's charges finished 2025 strongly to finish 4th and claim a European spot, after an inconsistent season.

‍Galway United

United come into this game following a dramatic 2-2 draw with Dundalk last Friday night.

Galway conceded a late equaliser, through former United player Bobby Burns, after the tribesmen took the lead midway through the second half.

United have made a solid start to the season, where they have performed very well in the majority of their fixtures to date.

Kris Twardek was a standout performer for United last Friday, after he was introduced off the bench. The Canadian scored the goal to give United a 2-1 lead against the Lilywhites.

A fellow new signing, Frantz Pierrot made his debut for the westerners against the Louth outfit off the bench late on, and he could be in line to start for John Caulfield's side on Friday in the capital.

Manager's thoughts

Speaking ahead of Friday's game, Galway United manager, Caulfield admitted that this Friday's game will be a tough challenge for his side.

"We're looking forward to the game. Bohs are flying. Their form so far has been so impressive, they're scoring goals and keeping clean sheets and most importantly, they are top of the table. They look like a team that could win the league."

Despite Bohs' impressive start, Caulfield believes his side can get a positive result and they can take confidence from their previous results in Dalymount Park in recent years.

"Our form the last few years in Dalymount has been good. We have got another week into Frantz Pierrot, but we know it will be a tough game, every game we have played this year has gone to the wire."
