Ollie Horgan Third Jersey

United will wear their new third jersey for the first time on Friday evening in Dundalk. The side were meant to wear the jersey in last Friday night's postponed game at Eamonn Deacy Park against Shelbourne.

Galway United introduced this third kit last week which carries genuine emotional weight. As part of the in-house design team, this was never going to be simply an alternative strip. Manufactured by O'Neills Sportswear, the jersey was conceived as a considered and permanent tribute to United's late assistant manager, Ollie Horgan.

Black with refined purple detailing, capturing something of Ollie’s presence. Direct. Proud. Resilient. Deeply connected to his club and community.

All replica jerseys we sell will feature Horgan 25 on the back in tribute to a legend.

Each sale will also contribute towards the good work of Cancer Care West.

Dundalk FC

Dundalk come into this game following a 2-2 draw against Derry City, last Friday night.

The Louth outift currently sit 4th in the league table, four points ahead of United.

Ciaran Kilduff remains in charge of their side for 2026, and he has made a number of impressive signings in the off season.

Former United player, Bobby Burns is one of Kilduff's new signings.

Galway native, Daryl Horgan is a key man for the Lilywhites, with Eoin Kenny also in impressive form for the 2018 league champions.

Dundalk won the First Division title last season, and they have began their return to the Premier Division with an impressive start.

‍Galway United

United come into this game after their game last Friday night against Shelbourne was postponed, due to an unplayable pitch at Eamonn Deacy Park.

The last United fixture that was fulfilled was the westerners 3-2 victory over Drogheda United.

Goals from Francely Lomboto, Kris Twardek and Axel Pieshold sealed all three points for the 2023 First Division champions.

John Caulfield has made a number of new signings for 2026, with Arthur Parker and Twardek very impressive for the tribesmen in their first season with the club.

United have faced Dundalk already this season, with the two teams drawing 2-2 at Eamonn Deacy Park.

Galway United squad: Evan Watts, Hugo Pires Da Cunha, Killian Brouder, Junior Thiam, Axel Pieshold, David Hurley, Aaron Bolger, Jimmy Keohane, Conor McCormack, Ed McCarthy, Dara McGuinness, Stephen Walsh, Cillian Tollett, James Morahan, Wasiri Williams, Kris Twardek, Lee Devitt, Matty Wolfe, Gianfranco Facchineri, Al-Amin Kazeem, Francely Lomboto, Arthur Parker, Hugo Pires Da Cunha, Nicholas Fleuriau Chateau, Frantz Pierrot.

Manager's thoughts

Speaking ahead of Friday's game, Galway United manager, Caulfield believes Friday will be a difficult game for his side.

"We're looking forward to Friday's game. Dundalk is always a tough place to go. They are flying it at the moment, and Ciaran Kilduff has done a great job there. Their form has them competing for an European spot. The game is obviously on an all weather pitch, which is different because we are used to playing on grass. However, we're in good form ourselves and we are confident we can get a positive result on Friday."

The Roscommon native is also well aware of the Louth side's key players on the pitch.

"They obviously have Daryl Horgan, who we all know from Galway, young Kenny and McDaid as well. They have Bobby Burns from ourselves and then players like Buckley as well in midfield, and O'Keefe at the back. They are a good side, and we will have to be up for it on Friday."
