Galway United return to action this Friday night, when they face Bray Wanderers in the FAI Men's Cup at Eamonn Deacy Park.

Galway United's opponents this week are First Division side, Bray Wanderers. The Wicklow outfit currently sit in second place in the league, behind leaders Cork City.

The side are managed by Paul Heffernan.

Bray defeated Donegal's, Finn Harps in the last round of the cup.

The club last claimed the Men's FAI Cup title in 1999, when they defeated Harps in a final replay.

Wanderers and United last faced each other in the league in 2023.

Bray have impressed so far this season and they have a lot of young players in attack with bundles of pace.

Their side includes former United player, Dean O'Shea.

Galway United

United come into Friday's game following a 0-0 draw with Drogheda United last Friday, in their first game back in Eamonn Deacy Park since May.

The men in maroon defeated amateur side, Crumlin United, in the last round of the cup.

John Caulfield's side currently sit in 7th place in the Men's Premier Division.

Axel Pieshoid and Dara McGuinness are ruled out for this game, with Killian Brouder a huge doubt, due to injury.

Manager's Thoughts

Speaking ahead of Friday's game, Galway manager John Caulfield said he was expecting a difficult challenge against Bray.

"We're really looking forward to the game and hopefully we can get a good crowd into support us. Bray are a good side, they are second in the league, only behind Cork. Paul Heffernan has done a good job there and has a young, dynamic team. Axel and Dara are out, and Killian Brouder is a serious doubt. Mattie Wolfe will hopefully be available. Everyone else from last week's game should be available."
