Galway United return to action this Friday night, when they face Derry City at Pearse Stadium, in the SSE Airtricity Men's Premier Division.

Friday's game will be a historic occasion for Galway United as they will play their first of a number of games at Pearse Stadium, the home of Galway GAA.

United are playing this fixture at Pearse Stadium because of pitch renovations taking place at Eamonn Deacy Park.

The westerners will play four games at Pearse Stadium in June and July. With three games in the SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division and one in the Club Orange Men’s FAI Cup.

Home Fans Parking:

Colaiste Einde's Secondary School (H91 X798) - Will be available 2hours before kick off on match day and has over 540 spaces available on a first come first served basis. This car park will close shortly after the game.

This is a 600 meter walk to Turnstiles 15-22 from the school which is North West of the stadium on the Threadneedle Road.

Home Fans Seating:

Home Fans will be located in the Main Stand in Blocks D-L and in the West Terrace. See Maroon Block in the main stand on the map below.

There will be a club shop and bar in the home fanzone area by gates 5-12.

Derry City

Derry City come into this contest following a 4-1 win over Bohs.

The Candystripes are managed by Tiernan Lynch, who the led the Ulster men to a second placed finish last season.

Derry have made a number of new signings ahead of this season, with Darragh Markey and former Republic of Ireland international, James McClean eye-catching additions for the Brandywell outfit.

James Clarke has been in fine form for Derry so far this season.

For many, City were one of the title favourites for 2026. They currently sit in mid-table just above United.

The north-west side were defeated in their last game in Galway earlier this season.

Michael Duffy will be a key man for City, the talented winger is currently in scintillating form.

Galway come into this game following a narrow defeat to Dundalk, at Munster FA Turners Cross.

United defended comfortably for the majority of the contest, however, a late Tyreke Wilson goal secured all three points for the Lilywhites.

John Caulfield's side have made a solid start to the season, where they have performed well in the majority of their fixtures to date.

The westerners currently sit in 7th place in the table.

Manager's thoughts

Speaking ahead of Friday's game, Galway United manager, Caulfield said that he is hoping for a big home crowd.

"Hopefully we can get a good crowd in. It's obviously our first game at Pearse Stadium, it's something different and hopefully we can get a good support."
