Galway United return to action this Friday night, when they face Shamrock Rovers at Eamonn Deacy Park, in the SSE Airtricity Men's Premier Division.
Shamrock Rovers
Rovers come into this contest following a comfortable 4-1 victory over Drogheda United on Monday.
The Dublin side are still managed by Stephen Bradley, who has led the hoops to a plethora of league titles.
Rovers have retained the vast majority of their squad from last season, however they have made some new additions. Former St. Patrick's Athletic player, Jake Mulraney is an eye-catching addition for the league champions.
Bradley's charges claimed the 2025 title comfortably, after an impressive league campaign. They rounded off the season by winning the FAI Cup, following a final victory over Cork City. The final victory at the Aviva Stadium saw the men from Tallaght claim a historic double.
They have a lot of threats in attack with Graham Burke, Jack Byrne, Matt Healy, Michael Noonan and Galway native, Rory Gaffney all key men for the hoops.
They currently sit top of the league table, and are favourites to retain their title.
Galway United
Galway come into this game following a 1-1 draw against Derry city on Monday evening, at FIND Insurance Celtic Park.
United have made a solid start to the season, where they have performed very well in the majority of their fixtures to date.
The westerners have drawn the last three of their games, and sit in 7th position in the league table.
Galway United squad: Evan Watts, Hugo Pires Da Cunha, Killian Brouder, Junior Thiam, Axel Pieshold, David Hurley, Aaron Bolger, Jimmy Keohane, Conor McCormack, Ed McCarthy, Dara McGuinness, Stephen Walsh, Cillian Tollett, James Morahan, Wasiri Williams, Kris Twardek, Lee Devitt, Matty Wolfe, Gianfranco Facchineri, Al-Amin Kazeem, Francely Lomboto, Arthur Parker, Hugo Pires Da Cunha, Nicholas Fleuriau Chateau, Frantz Pierrot.
Management's thoughts
Speaking ahead of Friday's game, Galway United assistant manager, Richie Holland said that this Friday's game will be a difficult task, and he hopes there will be a large home support at the game.
"It's the ultimate test. We need to get our recovery right. Hopefully we can get a big crowd in as well. A big support really helps, as we've seen this year in our place."
