Malcolm Shaw signs for Galway United

FÁILTE MALCOLM SHAW 👋

Tá lúcháir ar Gaillimh Aontaithe a fhógairt go bhfuil Malcolm Shaw ag síniú d’fhoireann sinsireach na bhfear.

We’re delighted to welcome Malcolm Shaw to Galway United. The 29-year-old Canadian-born striker and Trinidad and Tobago international joins the club with lots of experience after a lengthy spell in the Canadian Premier League.

FROM CANADA TO THE WEST OF IRELAND 🇨🇦🇮🇪

From Toronto, Canada, and capped internationally by Trinidad & Tobago, Malcolm’s journey has taken him from Sweden to the Caribbean, via a trophy-laden spell in the Canadian Premier League. Shaw started his career at college level and was prolific for his NCAA Division II soccer days, scoring 27 goals across four seasons for Roberts Wesleyan College.

Most recently with Cavalry FC, Shaw helped lift the title with Atletico Ottawa the season previous. At Ottawa, Shaw earned 83 appearances and made 24 goal contributions in his time there. His path is similar to Moses Dyer and Jeannot Esua who joined United from the same league earlier in 2025.

I played against Moses Dyer a couple of games when he was with Valour, along with Jeannot Esua so I was in touch with them ahead of the move

Shaw is excited about the move to Galway City, which will see him in Europe for the second time following a brief spell in Sweden in 2018/19. You can watch Shaw’s full thoughts in our exclusive interview below:

INTERNATIONAL PEDIGREE 🌍

Eligible for Trinidad & Tobago through his mother, Malcolm has already earned 8 senior caps, scoring in both the CONCACAF Nations League and FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. His experience on the international stage brings a huge element to the United attack.

“Playing in the Gold Cup and scoring for Trinidad was a special feeling. Hopefully this move helps me earn more call-ups.”

WHAT TO EXPECT 🔥

Shaw is a very powerful forward who thrives on hold-up play, aerial duels, and attacking movement anywhere across the front line. He puts hard work first and should fit nicely into the system currently employed with our Senior Men’s side.

“I believe I can score goals. I can be versatile across the front three, but most of all, I work hard and want to help win games.”
