Jason Molloy pens new deal with United
Galway United are delighted to announce that Jason Molloy has penned a new deal with the club.
The twenty six year old was a key member of Galway’s promotion winning squad in 2014 – lining out for the Tribesmen on 30 occasions, scoring three goals.
The skilful winger is the 21st player to commit to the Eamonn Deacy Park outfit ahead of the start of the 2015 SSE Airtricity League Premier Division season.
Molloy told www.galwayunitedfc.ie that he was pleased to sign his new contract with his home town club and that he was looking forward to playing in the Premier Division with Galway United again.
“It was dragging on for a bit,” Molloy admitted.
“I had to sort out a few things with work so I could train properly and I had a bit of a niggling knee injury at the start of pre-season but that’s getting sorted now and I’m happy to re-sign with United.
“In 2015, I want to play every game and I want to chip in with a few more goals because I don’t think I contributed enough goals last season.”
Molloy sustained a slight knee injury in the off-season but he’s hopeful of being fit come March 6, having already played in two of Galway United’s pre-season friendlies against Finn Harps and Athlone Town.
“I’m still doing a bit of rehab on my knee, it will take another couple of weeks to heal fully and I’m a little behind the other lads in terms of match sharpness but I’ll get there for the start of the season.
“Hopefully I’ll be fit and available for selection and ill try and help the team whatever way I can.
“The off-season goes on for ages in Ireland, all the hard work has been done. As a squad, we can’t wait for the first game of the season now, it’s going to be a great occasion at Eamonn Deacy Park and hopefully we can get a massive crowd in for it.
“Squad building was a bit slow but the lads that have come in recently – added onto the players that we had from last season – have really boosted us and it means we’ve a good squad with a mix of youth and experience. I can’t wait to get started with the new season.”
