Amy Madden re-signs for 2024

Galway United are delighted to announce that Amy Madden has re-signed for the senior women’s team ahead of the 2024 season.
The 17 year old defender, has committed to The Tribeswomen for 2024 and heads into her second season for Galway United after joining from Treaty United in 2023.
Amy Madden, a Clare native started her career in the League of Ireland by joining Treaty United, joining their U17 squad in 2021. She then impressed at academy level and earned a place in the Treaty United senior team. The following season Amy Madden made sixteen appearances for Treaty United at senior level in 2022. Amy Madden also impressed on a national level playing for the Girls in Green on an U17 level in January 2022, playing against Portugal. She then earned a move to the newly founded Galway United Senior Womens side in 2023.
17 year old Amy Madden then went on to be a key player for United in 2023 making many 20 throughout the year including playing a pivotal role in winning the Avenir Sports All-Island Cup particularly. Amy who usually plays as a versatile fullback on either wing is strong in wide areas whether she is defending or attacking. In 2023 Amy Madden was kept very busy in all departments as she was in the top five women’s players in the country for both offensive and defensive duels per 90 minutes.
