Daniel’s 15,000km+ journey to Galway United is both a footballing milestone and a heartfelt return to his heritage. Stynes who was born and raised in Perth, Australia, has strong Irish ties, with his parents hailing from Dublin and Tipperary. The two first met in Galway before emigrating to Australia in 1985, making Daniel’s move to the Tribesmen a meaningful return to his heritage.

DANIEL’S CAREER SO FAR 📰
2017-2022: Perth Glory
Stynes or “Stynesy” as he likes to be known, began his professional career with his hometown club Perth Glory, as he stated: “I’m a Perth Boy, so came up through the academy, made my debut at 17 and spent a lot of time there” He was initially inspired by his older brother playing as decided to take on football himself, with local team Quinns Football Club his first club. He played there for five years, before starting in the Perth Glory academy at the age of just 13. Stynes quickly cemented himself into the first team squad after coming through their academy and signed his first professional contract in 2017. He played with the Glory for three years before taking a short break during the pandemic after an injury setback. Stynesy joined up with Gwelup locally in Perth.
Stynes returned back to A-League action with Perth Glory in late 2020. After the short break it didn’t take long to settle back in as he was subsequently called into the Asian Champions League squad to travel to Qatar. Daniel ended up scoring against eventual winners Ulsan Hyundai, showcasing his talent on the continental stage. Check it out below:

He also got in touch ahead of the move along with former Galway United midfielder Jay O’Shea “I played against Jay many times, I reached out to him and he had nothing but great words to say about Galway and about Galway United, and he’s played at the highest level”
