Galway United FC are delighted to announce the signing of Gianfranco Facchineri.

From 🇨🇦 to 🇮🇪

The 23-year-old centre back joins United from Valour FC in Canada.

Early Career

After an impressive spell in college soccer with Windsor Lancers, who represent the University of Windsor, the Canadian born player joined Vancouver Whitecaps in 2020. During his time at Windsor Lancers, he was named an OUA West First Team All-Star.

Valour FC 🇨🇦

After signing for Vancouver Whitecaps, Facchineri had loan spells at Athlètico Ottawa and San Diego Loyal, before he joined Windsor City FC in 2023. The central defender made 15 appearances for Windsor City, before he joined Valour FC in 2024. He would go onto make 47 appearances for Valour.

Facchineri is the second player to join United for the 2026 season from Valour FC, with Kris Twardek also joining United.

International 🇨🇦

Facchineri also has underage international experience, as he previously has represented Canada, at U17 level.
