MORAHAN SIGNS PROFESSIONAL CONTRACT!

Galway United FC are delighted to announce that Academy Graduate, James Morahan has signed a professional contract with the club.

Morahan lined out for United’s U17 and U20 sides last season. He also trained with John Caulfield’s first team squad on numerous occasions in 2025. Morahan is predominantly a central defender and had numerous impressive performances at academy level for Tribesmen last season.

John Caulfield stated that he was pleased that Morahan has signed a professional contract.

We’re absolutely delighted to offer a first professional contract to James. He’s a player that has come through our underage system and was in training with the first team on numerous occasions last season. We’ve been really impressed by him. He follows in the footsteps of a lot of lads that have come through our academy. It’s a massive challenge for him but a brilliant opportunity for him. He has a great attitude and it’s brilliant that he’s got his first professional contract. Hopefully he will have a bright future”

“Signing a professional contract is a dream come true. It’s something I’ve wanted ever since I joined the academy, and even back when I started out with Salthill Devon and fell in love with football. It hasn’t been easy—there’s been a lot of hard work and countless training sessions—but I really enjoy the high intensity and the challenge. The progression and pathway from the academy to the first team is so important, and I’ve had great support along the way. Sean has been constantly present, offering advice, and John has always encouraged me to push myself and do better." James Morahan, Galway United

Galway United Academy manager, Sean Kimberley, said that he was looking forward to see how Morahan progresses.

“I’m excited to see the progress James makes now having earned this initial contract, with his natural pace and range of passing there is undoubted potential for the future”.

My advice to younger players who want to follow this journey is simple: keep working hard in training, listen to your coaches, and when you get your chance—take it.” James Morahan, Galway United
