GALWAY UNITED LAUNCH GREEK INSPIRED 2025 AWAY KIT
GALWAY UNITED LAUNCH GREEK INSPIRED 2025 AWAY KIT
Galway United’s 2025 Away kit, is designed to honour our inaugural season in partnership with the people and city of Loutraki.
This season Galway United has partnered with the Coastal Town of Loutraki, Greece. Loutraki is historically famous for its hot healing waters, which were used by Spartan soldiers to regain strength after battles. Apollo, the Greek God of the Sun and Well-Being and Hera, Mother of all Greek Gods, were worshipped in temples in Loutraki, the ruins of which still remain today.
FRONT OF KIT DETAILS:
The new 2025 kit features a custom illustration of Apollo the Greek God of the Sun and Well-Being on the front of the shirt. Framed by a Greek ‘Meander’ looping pattern. An iconic Greek and Roman motif which shares visual similarities and historic connections to Celtic designs. The use of this traditional motif extends to the cuffs of the shirt also.
BACK OF KIT DETAILS:
Irish Mythology is represented on the reverse of the jersey in the form of the Hero Cu Chulainn. Surrounded by a traditional Celtic band.
Cu Chulainn also known as Setanta, as the legend goes, was the son of the Celtic God Lugh and was born near Newgrange, Ireland’s most prominent and renowned Neolithic monument.
Cu Chulainn is widely regarded to be, in Irish Mythology, what Achilles is to Greek Mythology. The two warriors were considered Demi-Gods and through their bravery and strength were undefeatable in battle.
THE DESIGN:
Both Loutraki, which is located 80km from Athens, and Galway, are coastal towns with strong maritime traditions. The distinct colour of the shirt reflects this mutual connection to the sea, fading from a deep Atlantic Navy to a lighter Mediterranean Blue. Creating a bold new look for the Tribesmen and Tribeswomen this season.
Designed once again by Galway United Club Designer Morgan O’Brien he remarks.
“This was a unique opportunity to celebrate two proud cultures and through this collaborative design process create a visual emblem for our new partnership with the great town of Loutraki. I very much hope this shirt acts as a bridge between our two communities and that this is the start of a very special and long-term friendship.”
Morgan continues:
“Once again, working with the team in O’Neills has been an amazing experience. We couldn’t be prouder to be in partnership with such an iconic Irish brand. Our ranges, designed by the club, produced in Ireland and recognised worldwide for their design and quality, continue to break club records for sales. We look forward to seeing this latest 2025 Away Kit on-field and in the stands for what is sure to be another memorable season in top-flight football.”
