Cultures & Values

Galway United Football Club prides itself on club principles being a local community football club that has it’s foundations built on the hard work of it’s players, families, volunteers, loyal supporters and partnerships with our highly valued sponsors.

Whilst the senior club’s ultimate aim is to be consistently competitive and challenge for titles, we will always endeavour to do this without compromising our underlying culture and values.

To provide an opportunity for people to participate in a community club in a safe, friendly and family oriented environment.

To develop young sportspeople and professional footballers through comprehensive training programs overseen by suitably qualified coaching staff.

To encourage and foster our academy players to transition into the senior team, with the aim of providing the core group that underpins the sustainable success of the Club, both on and off the field.

To help develop and promote local coaches through the provision of a high performance environment and continued education in line with international coaching standards.

To embrace and use Gaeilge in all club communications and celebrate the part it plays in the lives of our supporters in the West of Ireland.

To encourage community involvement through sponsorship, events and fundraising activities and be recognised as a leading contributor to the culture of Galway and the surrounding areas.

To provide a social environment that encourages greater participation by girls and women.

To encourage volunteering at all levels and to make volunteers feel valued, appreciated and respected at all levels.

To always operate the club professionally, in a fiscally responsible manner and within the competition’s rules and regulations.

To exercise tolerance to others, and to always act fairly, honestly and respectfully.

To be fully committed to ensuring that our club environment is free from discrimination and harassment, that they will not be tolerated under any circumstances and be dealt with accordingly.

To improve and encourage the diversity of our supporters and to promote an environment where football supporters of any nationality, race, sex and background can feel welcome at all levels in our club.

To become an environmentally sustainable club, to reduce waste produced through club activities and choose environmentally sound practices where possible.

To have the young people of the West of Ireland proudly recognise Galway United FC as their primary football team to support over any other club in Ireland or abroad.
