Galway United are delighted to announce that goalkeeper Nicole Nix has signed for our senior women’s side ahead of the 2025 season.
One of the most promising young keeper in the country, Nicole Nix joins from a successful spell with fellow SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division side, Wexford FC.
Nicole who hails from Co. Clare initially started her LOI career with Treaty United, joining them at U17 level in 2022. She stayed with the Shannonsiders for one season before moving across the country to Wexford. Nix joined up with their U17 side at first and her performances that season then earned her a spot in the U19 team. Nicole was part of the U19 Cup winning Wexford side in 2023. Her performances in nets grabbed the attention of those on a senior level at the club. It was in September 2023 that Nix made her senior debut and kept a clean sheet, in a game against her former side, Treaty United.
Nicole then kept up her form and earned a spot in the 2024 Wexford FC squad on a permanent basis. She made several more appearances last season, and has been highlighted as a player to watch in the league. As one of the most exciting goalkeeping prospects around, Nicole stated her enthusiasm about signing:
“It’s unreal, I’m so excited to get going. I’ve been watching from the outside for the last few years and I’m so happy to be a part of this team”

Nicole has also represented the Republic of Ireland at underage level on multiple occasions and is looking to keep the trend going as she joins Galway United. She joins the recently announced Niamh Farrelly who has several senior caps. Nix mentioned her ambitions with the Ireland team “Yeah it’s such a proud feeling to play for your country. Coming in here aswell, hopefully I can push on and improve too with the brilliant setup and coaching available here. I’d love to get the point where I’m up there with the seniors down the line”
