Jenna Slattery moves to Hearts of Midlothian

Galway United can confirm that Jenna Slattery has joined Hearts of Midlothian in the Scottish Women’s Premier League.

Jenna has been a trailblazer for our Senior Women’s side, initially joining as part of the inaugural Galway United Senior Women’s team in 2023. Over the past two seasons, she has made an incredible impact, both for her individual brilliance and her immense contributions to the team’s success.

Jenna’s accolades speak for themselves. She finished the 2024 season as the Golden Boot winner, leading the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division with 10 goals and cementing her status as Galway United’s top scorer for the second consecutive year. She was named to the Team of the Year again in both 2023 and 2024, a testament to her consistency during her period with the club.

Her journey with Galway United is filled with unforgettable moments. She kicked off the 2024 season in style with a brace against Cork City in Moyne Villa, echoing her performance against them the previous season. One of Jenna’s most impressive goals came in the 2023 All-Island Cup Group Stage, where she struck a stunning 35-yard effort into the corner against Linfield in just the 4th minute, a goal that showcases her ability to change a game in a mere matter of moments. Jenna has also been a serial winner, helping the club secure back-to-back All-Island Cup titles in 2023 and 2024. Individually, she was named SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division Player of the Month in April 2023 and earned Galway United Player of the Month honours, on several occasions. Slattery also has earned a spot in the Team Of The Year every year she’s been with Galway United.

Speaking on Jenna’s departure, Galway United Women’s Manager Phil Trill said:

“Whilst as a club we are sorry to see Jenna go, as she was an integral member of our team, we are incredibly proud of her as she embarks on the next steps of her footballing journey. We have no doubt she will excel in her new environment and show the same qualities of professionalism and dedication we have seen during her time with our club.

It’s a privilege to have worked with Jenna over the past number of years and tremendous credit must go to herself, her family and her coaches who have all played a big part in her development thus far. We wish her the very best.”

This move represents an exciting new chapter in Jenna’s career, and while we are sad to see her go, we are incredibly proud of her progression and the impact she has made on our side while she donned the maroon for the Tribeswomen. We have no doubt she will make an incredible impact at Hearts of Midlothian, and we will be cheering her on every step of the way.

Go raibh maith agat, Jenna – and best of luck in Scotland!
