Club Statement on supporters attending games and streaming
GALWAY UNITED CLUB STATEMENT
The recent deferral of the nation’s plans to move into Phase 4 of the roadmap to reopening society and business mean that the club will be limited to a maximum attendance of 200 people for our home fixtures against Cabinteely FC and Athlone Town on July 31 and August 3rd respectively.
In an effort to give our season ticket holders the opportunity to attend these matches, we have thoroughly examined the number of essential persons required in the ground on matchday i.e. players, officials and opposition club members. We propose to allocate the remaining spaces to our paid up season ticket holders. The number of season ticket holders far outweighs the number of spaces available per game, and the club have debated at length how best to fairly accommodate as many supporters as allowable.
The total number of paid up season ticket holders which we can permit into the ground on match night amounts to 53. While this number appears low, we have decided that it was vital that we safely admit as many season ticket holders as possible rather than play our games behind closed doors. It has been decided the fairest way to allocate these spaces is by a random lottery.
In order to remain Covid compliant, every person in the ground must be recorded for contact tracing purposes which requires a significant amount of administrative work for our team of volunteers. To comply with the requirements, season ticket holders must pre-register their intent to enter the lottery to attend each of our first two home fixtures via our official website. The club has additionally decided that no under-18s will be considered for admission at this point in time.
Season ticket holders successfully drawn in the lottery will be notified directly. Please be advised only those selected will be allowed entry on the night and NO exceptions or walk-ins will be permitted.
To ensure that all of our fans have the opportunity to see our home matches, we will be live streaming all of our home games via our official website. Season ticket holders will be given free access to all of these streamed matches and other fans may avail of it for a nominal fee to help cover the cost of the production as well as support our club.
This situation will be reviewed after our first two fixtures when we know if the country has progressed to Phase 4 after August 10th. We appreciate your continued support. Stay safe.
The club will be providing season tickets holders with a lottery link to register their interest in attending the Cabinteely and Athlone Town games shortly.
