Elizabeth Knight signs for Galway United

FÁILTE ELIZABETH KNIGHT 👋

Tá lúcháir ar Gaillimh Aontaithe a fhógairt go bhfuil Elizabeth Knight ag síniú d’fhoireann sinsir na mban.

Galway United are delighted to announce the signing of 24-year-old goalkeeper Elizabeth Knight.

Elizabeth Knight grew up in Surrey in England and first started her football career with Wimbledon at U13 level in 2013. She stayed with the Dons for two years before joining Reading at U16 level in 2015. She stayed with The Royals for three years, working her way up the U21 side.

Knight then made the breakthrough in senior football in 2018. She joined Portsmouth’s first team and spent another two seasons here with Pompey before travelling across the Atlantic. Elizabeth made the switch to Canadian U-Sports League University where she had a hugely successful time between the sticks. Knight then earned a spot in the all-star team along with the leading save percentage and numbers of saves across the division.

Speaking about her signing, Elizabeth Knight said:

“It’s honestly amazing, I’m excited to continue my football journey. It’s close to home, I’ve been away for so long. I spent all my youth career in England and then went across to the USA and Canada for a while. As a goalkeeper I like to play with my feet a lot, and distribute the ball and help out the team how I can. I’m living with some of the girls already and it’s such an exciting time and I can’t wait to get started. ”
