FÁILTE EVAN WATTS 👋

Tá lúcháir ar Gaillimh Aontaithe a fhógairt go bhfuil Evan Watts ag síniú d’fhoireann sinsireach na bhfear.

Galway United are thrilled to announce the loan signing of goalkeeper Evan Watts from Swansea City for the duration of the 2025 season.

20-year-old Welshman, Evan Watts, has been at Swansea City since under-12 level and has progressed through the ranks, featuring regularly for the under-18 and under-21 sides. The Swans stopper has also represented Wales at Under-15 and Under-16 level, and has experienced the opportunity to play at Under-21 level with Wales, making his debut in March 2024.

On club level Watts has already had some impressive moments, despite suffering some injuries to both knees that sidelined him for three years in the Academy. Watts made a remarkable comeback, returning to action in a pre-season friendly against Arsenal ahead of the 2022-23 season. Since then, he worked tirelessly to regain full fitness and form and has now broke into the underage national team and regularly for the Swans academy sides. Watts then went on to sign his first professional contract with Swansea City in 2023, proving his worth and showing the bright future he has ahead of him.

Evan expressed his thoughts on joining the Tribesmen on loan for 2025.

“I’m really excited to get started, I’ve met a lot of the lads already and everyone has been so welcoming, there’s a real homely feel about the club. Looking forward to it and hopefully I can help the team throughout the season.”

“John reached out to us, and had a few chats. I feel like it could be really beneficial for me and my career. Looking at the club it looks like a great club with a great fan base”

Evan also told us about his playstyle and what the fans can expect to see:

“I like to come out of my area, if there’s a ball to collect with crosses and corners. I pride myself on trying to help the defence and take control. I feel comfortable with my feet and under pressure, especially because the way we play at Swansea.”

“Of course on top of shot stopping and all that sort stuff, it comes hand in hand with the job and it’s been embedded into me since a young age. Really looking forward to playing games now this season”
