Jeannot Esua Re-Signs for Galway United
Galway United are delighted to announce that Jeannot Esua has re-signed with Galway United ahead of the 2025 season.

It will be the second season at the club for the 28-year-old since joining the Tribesmen in January 2024.
The Cameroonian made a strong impression in his debut campaign at Terryland, making national made 29 total appearances for United last season as they recorded their best-ever League of Ireland campaign in over thirty years.
Esua gained many plaudits last season for his abilities at both ends of the right-hand flank. He was a part of the second-best defensive unit in the League last season, only conceding 29 goals all campaign, and with 16 successful dribbles and 22 successful crosses, it’s easy to see why he quickly became a Galway United favourite.
Born and raised in West Cameroon in 1996, Jeannot started his career with local club Rainbow Bamenda. He signed for one of the most well known academies in the country at just 12 years of age and signed professionally in Cameroon At 19, Esua made the move across the Atlantic joining USL outfit Orange County. He then transferred to the Canadian Premier League to play with FC Edmonton. He proved a key player here, winning the club’s player of the year in 2019. In 2022, Esua signed for newly promoted Finnish second division side PEPO Lappeenranta before he would he move to fellow Finnish second tier side, Ekenäs IF. In January 2024 Esua signed for Galway United.
The announcement of Jeannot Esua’s return for 2025 follows the news that Brendan Clarke and Patrick Hickey will be coming back for Galway United’s 2025 campaign as was a new deal for midfielder Vincent Borden.
