Kyah Coady signs for Galway United

Galway United is delighted to announce the signing of 22-year-old versatile wing-back Kyah Coady.

The former Eredivise star links up with Phil Trill’s side with experience in the Netherlands and the United States.

FROM CALIFORNIA TO GALWAY VIA HOLLAND 🇳🇱

Coady started her career locally in California with “Southern California Blues” as a child, before commiting to Pepperdine University as a teenager. She then quickly made the move to Europe, to the Dutch top tier. Kyah made her Eredivise senior debut at just seventeen with VV Alkmaar. She impressed here and stayed on with the senior team until 2022. She was recognised across the league officially as the “Player to Watch” and “Playmaker to Watch” in Eredivise for her performances.

Kyah then moved to Telstar to sign her second professional contract. She kickstarted her career with the club, with a standout goal against UEFA Women’s Champions League side, Ajax. During her time there she also faced off against fellow UWCL side FC Twente, along with many Dutch internationals. Following a season with Telstar, Kyah then moved to the United States where she most recently played in the USL-W League with Oakland Soul and captained San Jose State University, earning Defensive MVP honours in 2024.

Now Kyah moves to her Dad’s homeland of Ireland, and will be wearing maroon following some impressive years in both the Netherlands and the United States. Still at just 22-years-old, Coady has a lot of potential to hit new heights at Eamonn Deacy Park.

ARRIVING IN GALWAY 🇱🇻

Kyah has arrived in Galway at a promising time with the club on the rise in recent years. Kyah herself highlighted this at her signing announcement at Eamonn Deacy Park earlier today.

“I’m so excited to be here. My dad is from Ireland and it means a lot, I’m excited to be part of the special culture here. It’s a really special place, the culture with the fans and staff is brilliant. I’m looking forward to getting started, and learning some Irish too”

WHAT TO EXPECT 🔥

Kyah is a hard working and athletic player. She is experienced in a various positions throughout her career, whether it’s full-back, on the wing or centrally. She explained her playstyle in her own words below:

“I bring versatility, I’m super athletic and very pacy, I’m a player that likes to dribble a lot and do combinations with my team and adding to the beautiful blend that’s already here”
