‘It will be a big night for our supporters’ – John Caulfield, Manager
Galway United host Treaty United in their first home league fixture of the 2023 season on Friday – kick-off is at 7.45pm. Tickets available HERE
United go into their second outing of the new First Division campaign in high spirits following their 2-1 victory over Finn Harps in Ballybofey last week. New signing Vincent Borden netted both goals on his competitive debut to secure a winning start for John Caulfield’s side. Full report HERE
This Friday’s opposition, Treaty United, come into the game on the back of a narrow 1-0 home defeat to Bray Wanderers. The Limerick outfit, under the guidance of Tommy Barrett, made it to last year’s FAI Cup semi-final and finished in the 2022 First Division play-off places.
Ahead of this week’s encounter at Eamonn Deacy Park, Caulfield said:
“It’s the first home game of the season so it will be a big night for our supporters.
“We need to start brightly as Treaty are well organised, very strong defensively, good on counter-attacks and dangerous on set-pieces.
“It is a local derby – they have a strong Galway contingent in their team so we have to be at our best from the get-go.
“We hope to build on last week’s win against Harps.”
