MATCH PREVIEW: Galway United vs Cobh Ramblers (Men’s First Division)

WELCOME TO THE MATCH PREVIEW 📲

Galway United return to league action this week as they take on third placed Cobh Ramblers on Friday evening at Eamonn Deacy Park.

The Tribesmen are back in First Division action for the first time since their dramatic 2-2 draw with Waterford at the RSC on August 11th, after defeating UCD in the FAI Cup second round on Monday night.

Cobh Ramblers are coming into this one off the back of three straight draws against Bray Wanderers, Kerry FC, and Wexford FC scoring seven goals in those three games. They sit in third place on 42 points, just two points clear of fourth placed Athlone Town.

Last Meeting: Cobh Ramblers 1-1 Galway United

The last time the sides faced in July it was a 1-1 draw at St. Colman’s Park with Cobh taking the lead through an early Pierce Phillips goal, before top goalscorer David Hurley equalised from the penalty spot on the stroke of half time.

Heading into Friday, the two clubs sit on opposite ends of the table in their respective leagues but manager John Caulfield is aware of the threats that UCD pose, as he explains below:

🗣 John Caulfield: "We know how strong Cobh are, we had a draw there a month ago and they also beat Waterford. We know that every game is a different challenge. It's our first home Friday night match in over a month. There's great momentum and great support behind the team and we are expecting great encouragement from the stands tomorrow night. We are on a great run of form and we're hoping to keep it going.
