Message from Matty
“I’m delighted to have signed with Galway United. I can’t wait to get going and I’m ready to work hard, give everything and create good memories with you all in this season!”
League of Ireland Experience 🇮🇪
Wolfe joins United after spending the 2025 season at Sligo Rovers. Last season, he made 22 appearances for the Bit O’Red.

Career ⚽
The English man began his career at Barnsley, where he made 35 appearances for the club between 2020 and 2025.
During his time at the South Yorkshire club he also had loan spells at Notts County and Esbjerg.
Wolfe joined the Barnsley Academy when he was 10 years of age. In 2020, he made his first team debut for the club as a substitute in a 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest.
After some impressive performances during Barnsley’s 2021-2022 campaign in the EFL Championship, Wolfe won the club’s Young Player of the Year award.

John Caulfield on signing Matty:
“We’re delighted to sign Matty. He was a very influential player for Sligo last season, showing strong passing ability, dominance in the air, and great mobility. His versatility allows him to play in multiple positions, and central midfield is an area we’ve been looking to strengthen. With a big pedigree from Barnsley, he’s eager to stay in the League of Ireland and fits perfectly with our model going forward. Matty is in the prime of his career and we believe he will make a big impact.”
