John Caulfield confirms Club Leadership Team and Backroom staff for 2025

As we look ahead to an exciting 2025 season, John Caulfield has confirmed his leadership team and backroom staff of our Senior Men’s side.

Alan Murphy – First Team Coach

Galway United First Team Coach, Alan Murphy

Alan Murphy returns to Galway United in 2025. Speaking about the appointment of Murphy as First Team Coach, Caulfield remarked: “It’s fantastic to get someone of Alan’s experience. He’s an ex Galway United player, and manager with a very successful career. We’re delighted to bring him on board. His knowledge of the League Of Ireland is great, and I’m sure he’ll bring in new ideas to the club.”

We can also confirm the departure of First Team Coach, Chris Collopy. We would like to thank Chris for his efforts and time he dedicated to the club. We wish him the best of luck going forward as he departs to take up a new role at Kerry FC.

Leadership Team:

Conor McCormack – Club Captain

Conor McCormack

Speaking about Conor McCormack’s new role as Club Captain, John Caulfield stated: “Conor McCormack is staying for another season, and all of our supporters can see what a massive influence he’s had on the team over the last number of years. Conor is finalising his UEFA Elite coaching licence and in addition to be a first team member, will also be working very closely with our new Academy Manager, Sean Kimberley. Conor is going to be overall Club Captain which will entail, having a leadership role within the Academy coupled with continuing to be a significant presence within our first team dressing room. Conor’s attitude and professionalism is exemplary and we believe his knowledge and experience will also be a significant contribution to the development of our academy.”

 

Greg Cunningham – First Team Captain

Greg Cunningham

Greg Cunningham, who joined from Preston North End in the summer of 2024 will be the first team captain. Caulfield also commented on this appointment, saying:“Greg’s experience is great, and it’s clearly visible the huge impact he has made to club since he came home in the summer. 2025 will be a huge season for us, and we need Greg to bring in more of his expertise and leadership within the team”
