Canadian Striker Amanda Smith joins Galway United’s Senior Women’s side

Galway United are delighted to announce the signing of Canadian Striker, Amanda Smith for our Senior Women’s side.

Smith who hails from Ottawa, was a student at Francis Xavier University (StFX) in Antigonish, Canada. Smith joins after some very impressive performances at University level with the college football team called “X”. Here she won a multitude of awards, including the Most Valued Player in 2019/20 when she was beginning her career with the side and pushed on a lot since, in her fifth year with the side in 2023 she kept that form up. Making the All-Star team for the third time last year and winning multiple Player of the Week awards in September and October 23′. Scoring three goals in two games to open the season for “X’ she started in great form.

Amanda Smith, formerly with West Ottawa Soccer and Club OPDL, has a proven goalscoring pedigree and will look to bolster an already high scoring front line at Galway United. Smith will be available for selection for the game on Saturday against DLR Waves and certainly will give Phil Trill a headache when it comes to selecting his strongest eleven for the game. Amanda stated that she can’t wait to get going with the team after finding out about the club. “I‘ve been keeping an eye on the team online for a while, I can’t wait to get going and score some goals, it’s a big club so I’m delighted to sign” Check out a highlight reel of our new Canadian striker, Amanda Smith below:
