15-year-old Heather Loomes joins Galway United Senior Women’s squad

Galway United are delighted to announce that 15-year-old Heather Loomes has been called up to our Senior Women’s side from the academy. The 15-year-old has officially made the step up from the clubs underage system ahead of the 2024 season. Before joining United, Heather played for Knocknacarra FC. After spending times at the local Galway club, Loomes joined Galway United underage academy.
Last November, she became the youngest person ever (male or female) to play for Galway United at senior level in the clubs 3-0 win over current league champions Peamount United. At just 15 years and 207 days old. Internationally, Heather has played for the for the Republic of Ireland at U16 level, with appearances in friendlies against the Faroe Islands and Scotland last year. Loomes has also represented the Ireland schools teams, again featuring against Scotland. Now Heather at just fifteen years of age has been called up to the senior team for Galway United and is certainly one to keep an eye on!
