Galway United are delighted to announce that Lynsey McKey has re-signed for the senior women’s team ahead of the 2024 season.
The 33-year-old has committed to The Tribeswomen for 2024 and heads into her second season in Galway since signing for the club earlier this year.
In February of this year, Mckey was announced as the United’s first ever women’s senior club captain for the 2023 season. The Clare native made 23 appearances in all competitions last season for United, and scored once in that period. She helped captain the club to a historic victory in the Avenir Sports All-Island Cup. United’s first trophy in decades and winning silverware in our first year in the senior women’s game.
Before joining United, McKey signed for Cork Women’s FC in 2011 and played with the club for two years. She moved to Galway WFC in 2013, making 146 appearances in all competitions and scored an impressive 74 goals during her nine years at the club.
