MATCH PREVIEW: Galway United vs Shamrock Rovers (Enda McGuill Cup Final)

On Monday, Galway United will play Shamrock Rovers in the EA Sports Men’s U19 League of Ireland Enda McGuill Cup final at Eamon Deacy Park at 5PM.

    UNITED V ROVERS

This will be the fourth time these sides have met this year, the first being in May when a brace from Michael McCullagh helped Galway United win 5-0 in Group A of the League Academy. The next two meeting occurred in the league, with Rovers winning 1-0 in July and in October, both sides shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Manager Brendan O’Connor speaks ahead of the draw below

    REACHING THE FINAL

The home side reached the final after two goals each from Gavin Smyth and substitute David Tarmey helped beat Bray Wanders 9-1 away in the semi-final at the start of the month. Whereas Rovers scraped past UCD with a 3-2 away win last week with Onesime Tembe scoring a late penalty to put Rovers in the final. Both teams have been in great form this season and it tees up a competitive final in Eamonn Deacy Park with the Enda McGuill Cup on the line.
