Post match reaction – Longford Town
A disconsolate Tommy Dunne spoke to Galway United TV after his side suffered a harrowing last minute loss to Longford Town at Eamonn Deacy Park.
United took the lead in the 6th minute through Jake Keegan but history repeated itself on the quarter mark when another Galway United centre half, Stephen Walsh, was sent-off at Eamonn Deacy Park for denying a goalscoring opportunity.
Longford got back on level terms on the stroke of half time when Gary Shaw glanced a header past Conor Winn.
For 65 minutes, it seemed like United would hold on for a share of the spoils but Longford’s pressure told in the 93rd minute when Don Cowan hooked the ball home following a scramble in the box.
To add insult to injury, Sam Oji and Longford defender Pat Flynn were both sent-off after the goal was scored for an off-the-ball altercation.
